Creative Productivity: The Action Method

action_meth_screen.pngThese days productivity and “getting things done” is all the buzz. There are sites upon sites dedicated to discussing, dissecting, teaching, and innovating new and old ways to become more productive. I recently came across one of these methods while researching a site for another post. It’s the “Action Method” and it is brought to us by the thinkers over at the Behance Network.

What stands out about this method is it’s ease and targeted audience (all of us who think a little more creatively). To put it in the best terms, the Action Method website opens with the following statement:

The success of any idea ultimately comes down to action. Our method is a discipline for everyday productivity.
Designed for those with many ideas and lots of creative energy, the Action Method seeks to simplify project management and life.

The Action Method involves arranging all of your ideas into three categories: Action Steps, Backburner Items, and Reference Items; and then applying the Action Method principals to delegate productivity. The method is very simple to get started with and should only take a short amount of time applying the practice to your daily life to get the hang of it. However, if at all in doubt, you are not alone in using this new productivity method. The Action Method website has plenty of help and ways to get involved including the Tip Exchange and Action Method Products to help you with your daily productivity. One more amazing help the people at Behance offer is their advisory. It’s not free but it may be very well worth it to help bring you and your team up to productive speed.

Be sure to visit behance.com to take advantage of all their great offerings and actionmethod.com to effectively bring your creative process under a little more control.

    Hello,
Interesting post. I’ve checked the ‘Tip Exchange’ link and I must admit that I really liked the idea of turing the desktop into action-zones. By doing so you can clearly indicate the status and progress of you projects.

    Cheers!
